After working and training under another skilled furniture craftsman for several years, Phillip Clingo honed and perfected his skills building log furniture. While working with his previous employers he grew extremely frustrated with the expectation to quickly "mass produce" large quantities of log furniture. He felt his artistic touch was not able to be incorporated in the furniture he was being forced to build. He grew unhappy building the usual "cookie-cutter" style log furniture that his employer expected, and grew a desire to start his own company.
After considerable research, Phillip, owner and founder of Signature Log Furniture, relocated his family to beautiful Loa, Utah (a small town is central Utah) in 2006 so he could operate the kind of business he dreamed of. He wanted to be close to forests of some of the most beautiful aspen trees in the world so he could gather only the most artistic logs. He works with a small town sawmill in his area, in which he has developed a personal relationship with the operators, insuring him the best prices and quality custom cut logs. He builds his furniture out of a family owned, wood stove heated shop which dramatically reduces the overhead of operating a log furniture business. His home is finished in rustic, rough-cut lumber, and decorated with the very masterpieces he creates. But most of all, living in Loa, Utah keeps him in touch with Mother Nature, which has always been his passion in life and the inspiration for the unmatchable artistic furniture he creates.
Phillip has created an incredible reputation with his customers by personally handcrafting each and every piece of furniture to maintain the artistic beauty and rustic style of the very wood he uses. Most of his customers return year after year to purchase more furniture to add more of the rustic look of his creations that they are seeking in their homes. He builds each piece with his unmatched signature look and rugged, long lasting strength, which is something that cannot be copied or duplicated in a mass production furniture factory.
